Farmers Market Team

Job Description:

Farm Market Stand team is responsible for all Market operations: driving to market location, setting up and taking down of farm stand, customer service and sales. This includes developing a good understanding of all our value added products.  A previous herbal knowledge is helpful but not required.  Team members will need to commit to a minimum of one market day.  Currently market days are projected to be Saturday. This will increase based on staffing.

Season: April-November

Pay: $15-$20/hr. Commensurate with experience

Schedule: Saturdays.  6 to 7 hours.  Other days potentially available.

Status: Part time availability.

A positive attitude and attention to detail is critical. Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to the full growing season.  Please consider this commitment before applying.  Can't            commit to the whole season but still really interested? Apply and let us know your availability dates.  We will also be hiring for Farm Crew members. Please let us know if you are interested.

Qualifications

We are looking for positive, reliable, responsible, and hardworking individuals who have a great sense of humor and are able to follow directions and communicate well with others. Attention to detail is critical and an interest in herbs, health and nutrition and a passion for growing food is essential.  (If you are not a morning person, a farm job probably isn’t a good fit for you as we start each day early.)

You must also be a team player, open to learning new things, punctual, and be able to work in all weather conditions.   Spring in Virginia brings mud, rain, wind, snow, while summer the intense sun, heat and humidity each day in the field.

Previous farmers market and/or sales experience preferred. Must be in good physical condition and able to lift 50 pounds. A valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from the farm and markets are required. The farm is a non-smoking, drug free environment.
